- 人之初 (Jiin cy zhof) People at birth,
- 性本善 (sexng purn sien) Are naturally good (kind-hearted).
- 性相近 (sexng siofng kin) Their natures are similar,
- 習相遠 (sip siofng oarn) (But) their habits make them different (from each other).
