Banka

• bafngkaq (艋舺^†) / bangka / bangca means outrigger canoe (Indonesian and Tagalog); this is Taipei's oldest district.
• The current name (Jidguo: 萬華 Banka) was bestowed during Japanese rule. Hence Wanhua in Mandarin.
• In spoken Taiwanese, the old name is still used. There's a film called Monga (film)
