Notes
- From Remarks on the slogan for the Beijing Olympics: composed of graphs that individually mean "generation, era, lifetime" and "boundary." They were brought together over a thousand years ago to render into Sinitic the Buddhist Sanskrit term LOKA(-DHAATU). It was not until the second half of the 19th century that 世界 was transformed by the Japanese (using the pronunciation of the graphs as sekai) into the equivalent of English "world."
- Sanskrit लोक loka (लोकधातु lokadhātu), of Proto-Indo-European origins, also rendered as seakafn
- In Taiwanese, can mean "extremely" or "super"
- seakaix tvy (世界甜 super sweet)
- seakaix kuix (世界貴 super expensive)
