1705: Toa-twn (大墩 Toatun) settlement
1887: designated by Qing as Hwsviaa (capital of Taiwan Prefecture, Taioaan-huo)
- During previous 200 years, capital was at Tailaam
- Capital was temporarily put at Taipag
1895: Treaty of Shimonoseki
- March 1896: Taichū-ken established by Japanese rulers. (Taitiofng (臺中 central Taiwan))
