Words from Minyue (see Hokkien#Words_from_Minyue)

Some commonly used words, shared by all Min languages, came from the ancient Minyue (Ban'oat). They include the following examples, compared to the Fuzhou dialect, a Min Dong language:

¹ laang is now typically represented by 人 (literary reading jiin 🔊).
