'Fugu (Kanji: 河豚 (hQo+thuun); kana: フグ; literally "river pig") is the Japanese word for pufferfish and the dish prepared from it (ふぐ料理), normally species of genus Takifugu, Lagocephalus, or Sphoeroides, or porcupinefish of the genus Diodon.
