Notes

  • Red-topped Tower in Tailaam City was built in 1653 by the Dutch. This name derives from the Taiwanese aboriginal village Chakam/Sakam.
  • Other early forms of the name are Chhaccam, Sacam, Saccam, and Zaccam.
  • After growth in size and trade, the Chinese called it Chhiah-kham (赤崁), and surrounded it with high brick walls.
